Mahayuti’s bumper victory in Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, flag hoisted on 16 out of 17 seats, only setback in Nashik
digital desk- The election results of 17 local authority constituency seats of Maharashtra Legislative Council have been declared, with the ruling Mahayuti alliance registering a unilateral and historic victory. Mahayuti has given a crushing defeat to the opposition by capturing 16 out of total 17 seats. Voting for these seats was held on June 18, although Mahayuti candidates had already won 6 seats unopposed before the elections. Mahayuti’s dominance remained complete in the counting of votes for the remaining 11 seats. In this election, Bharatiya Janata Party tried its luck on 11 seats, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) on 4 and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on 2 seats.
The only blow to Mahayuti in Nashik is the victory of BJP rebel.
The only major blow to the ruling Mahayuti alliance in this entire election has been on Nashik seat. Here BJP rebel and independent candidate Gokul Geete has registered a spectacular victory. A total of 618 votes were cast in Nashik, out of which 13 votes were declared invalid. The quota for victory was fixed at 303 votes. Gokul Geete crossed the required quota by securing 357 votes in the first round of counting, while Mahayuti-backed Shiv Sena’s official candidate Narendra Darade got only 248 votes. This victory of Geete is being considered very important in the politics of the state.
BJP’s unilateral victory in Sangli-Satara and Amravati, Congress’s account not opened
Mahayuti supported BJP candidate Dhairysheel Kadam has won unilaterally on Sangli-Satara seat. He got 593 first preference votes out of the total 885 votes, while Mahavikas Aghadi-backed NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) candidate Abhay Singh Jagtap had to be content with 292 votes. On the other hand, a big upset was also seen in Amravati seat where BJP’s Praveen Pote got 390 votes, while Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi’s Nilesh Vishwakarma got 31 votes. The most surprising thing on this seat was that Congress candidate Harshjit Deshmukh could not even open his account and he got zero votes.
‘Lotus’ blossomed in Bhandara-Gondia, Dharashiv and Nagpur by-elections also
In Bhandara-Gondiya local authority seat, BJP candidate Avinash Brahmankar defeated Congress supported candidate Naresh Ishwarkar. Brahmankar got 304 votes while Ishwarkar had to be content with only 152 votes. With this, Mahayuti’s Basavaraj Patil has won from Osmanabad-Latur-Beed (Dharashiv) constituency by the biggest margin in the state. He defeated Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Mahesh Deshmukh by a huge margin of 721 votes. In this contest, Basavaraj Patil got a total of 845 votes while Mahesh Deshmukh had to be satisfied with only 124 votes. In the by-election held on Nagpur seat also, Dr. Rajeev Potdar of BJP registered a big victory by securing 682 votes, while Atul Londhe of Congress got only 130 votes.
Mahayuti candidates were already elected unopposed on these 6 seats.
Let us tell you that due to the opposition not fielding candidates or withdrawing their names, Mahayuti candidates were already declared elected unopposed on 6 seats without any voting. These seats included Wardha-Chandrapur-Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, Bhandara-Gondiya, Raigarh-Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg, Thane-Palghar and Ahilyanagar. After this spectacular election success, there is an atmosphere of great enthusiasm among Mahayuti and BJP workers all over Maharashtra and the victory is being celebrated with drums and drums.
