On Sunday the Wankhede St͏adium witnessed a six-wicket victory by five-time champions Mumbai Indians (cricket). A solid 148-run partnership was established by Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton. Mumbai did not struggle to reach the significant target of 221 runs. The game concluded with five balls remaining. Mumbai’s first win in the opening match of an IPL season after 14 years is not an ordinary achievement.
Despite Mumbai’s victory Suryakumar Yadav captain of India’s T20 World Cup-winning team received significant attention as the impact substitute (sub). Many commentators focused on the performance. No discussion occurred without mentioning Suryakumar.
During the previous season Rohit Sharma served as the impact substitute (player role). This time however he was not selected for that position. Suryakumar Yadav did not participate in the bowling innings as a result. Numerous inquiries were directed at Mahela Jayawardene head coach of Mumbai Indians regarding the decision to have SKY as the impact substitute this time.

With a total of 16 runs from 8 balls Suryakumar Yadav contributed significantly (briefly). Kartik Tyagi was responsible for his dismissal. Arriving at the crease after Rohit Sharma’s exit he did not bat at the top order. Chasing 221 runs was not a significant challenge for the Mumbai Indians. The task was accomplished with relative ease. Victory came without any major struggles for the team.
Significant contributions came from Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton. (players) A total of 78 runs were scored by Rohit while Ryan managed 81 runs. A boundary was hit by Naman Dhir on the first ball of the final over not concluding the game prematurely. The victory was secured by a crucial hit in Mumbai. Achieving success through this game was not an easy feat.
In the initial stages of the game Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieved a total of 220 runs while losing 4 wickets within the 20 overs allotted (score). A strong contribution came from their captain Ajinkya Rahane who scored 67 runs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi did not fall short as he contributed a brisk 51 runs off 29 balls.
