Mahila Congress sent memorandum to the Governor regarding basic questions in Basti, demanding solution
Settlement. Under the leadership of Basti District Mahila Congress President Lakshmi Yadav and guidance of former District President Gyanendra Pandey ‘Gyanu’, party officials reached the Collectorate on Wednesday and handed over a five-point memorandum addressed to the Governor to the Administrative Officer of the District Magistrate and demanded their immediate disposal. Lakshmi Yadav said that smart electricity meters are sucking the blood of the common man. This planned looting that has been going on for years should be stopped immediately. He said that after many complaints, no concrete decision was taken by the government nor did the consumers get any relief.
There is an outcry due to shortage of fertilizers in the district. Despite standing in line for several hours, farmers are not getting urea. On the other hand, secretaries of resource cooperative societies are providing urea to influential people at higher prices. Cases of harassment of women are increasing rapidly in the state, due to which women are being deprived of their right to live a respectable life. If the problems are not resolved, Mahila Congress will take to the streets and demand answers from the government on basic questions. Former MLAs Ambika Singh and Ramjiavan said that hundreds of Indigo flights were cancelled, but till now no action has been taken against it.
There was delay in refunding the fare and luggage to the passengers and they were unnecessarily harassed. Former District President Gyanendra Pandey ‘Gyanu’ said that after the cancellation of Indigo flights, children had to yearn for milk, a girl’s father kept shouting for sanitary pads to save his daughter’s honour, but no action was taken against Indigo. Looking at all these matters, it seems that there is no government and aviation minister in the country due to which the people are facing huge problems.
In the memorandum sent to the Governor, it was demanded that the smart electricity meters should be reviewed and planned loot should be completely stopped by taking the consumers into confidence, the shortage and over-rating of fertilizers should be controlled in the district and easy availability of fertilizers should be ensured to the farmers, a separate cell should be formed to hear women harassment cases and the availability of sanitary pads should be ensured compulsorily in the institutions. Along with this, women should be provided a safe place for feeding their children. The tendency of suicide among the common people is increasing rapidly. By reviewing the cases of suicide, concrete measures should be taken to stop it. Local bodies should be directed to free the residents of the district from the terror of stray animals and monkeys.
Congress leader Prashant Pandey said that Mahila Congress has raised the basic issues prominently through the memorandum. The fundamental rights of the people are also being taken away. Claims for women’s safety have failed. There is a shortage of fertilizer in the entire district. Until the problems are resolved, Congress will continue to raise issues of public interest.
