Mahindra BE07 Electric SUV Spied For The 1st Time: India Launch In 2027

Mahindra Automotive is continuing to bet big on the future of electric mobility. Recently, the fourth electric vehicle, the BE 07 based on its INGLO electric architecture, has been spotted testing. This particular test mule was seen driving on public roads with full body camouflage. For those who may not be aware, just a few days ago Mahindra confirmed that it will be launching a new electric SUV in 2027.

Mahindra BE 07 test mule spotted

From the test mule image of the Mahindra BE 07, we can note a few important details and also mark out the differences from the concept that was shown back in August 2022. The main difference that can be noted is the overall styling. Mahindra Automotive showed a concept which had a lot of sharp body lines and was very edgy.

However, the test vehicle spotted with full body camouflage appeared a bit softer. Another major difference that can be noted is the lighting. The concept was seen with sharp C-shaped LED DRLs. However, the test mule seems to be equipped with a more practical LED headlight and DRL design. Generally, most automakers tone down the design highlights from concept vehicles to ensure that they are more practical for production.

We note that at the front this particular test mule was equipped with a stepped-up bumper with a sleek air vent, closed-off grille portion, steeply raked front windshield, large 19-inch aero-efficient alloy wheels, a side step, large windows, flush-type door handles, and a strong rear three-quarter section.

Another important element that can be noted is that the concept was shown with cameras instead of ORVMs. However, the test mule was seen with a set of traditional ORVMs. Presently, there are no images of the rear end of the upcoming BE 07. However, most likely it will get a set of LED taillights which will be connected, as seen in the BE 6.

Interior design

Although this particular test mule did not reveal the production version’s cabin and dashboard design, the concept which we saw back in August 2022 was equipped with the triple-screen setup. Presently, the Mahindra XEV 9E, XEV 9S, and the XUV 7XO are offered with the triple-screen setup comprising three 12.3-inch touchscreens.

The concept version also showed a unique, very elegant, and simpler lower dashboard layout. It was also equipped with floating drive mode buttons and a position to hold the key and other controls next to it. The steering wheel design looked the same as the XEV 9E and XEV 9S. Now, whether the production version’s cabin looks like this or not will be revealed in the coming months when more spy images surface online.

EV architecture and powertrain details

As mentioned, the Mahindra BE 07 will be based on the same INGLO electric architecture which is the basis for the current generation of Mahindra electric cars. The BE (Born Electric) 07 will slot in between the BE 6 mid-size SUV and the upcoming BE 09 EV, which will be the bigger version of this SUV and possibly come with 7 seats. Speaking of seats, the BE 07 will be a 5-seater.

Dimensionally, the concept version of the BE 07 measured 4,565 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,660 mm in height, and its wheelbase was 2,775 mm. As for the battery pack options, it will most likely be offered with the same options as the XEV 9S, including the 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh. The most powerful variant of the BE 07 could make the same 228 bhp and 380 Nm as the other top-of-the-line Born Electric SUVs from the brand.
