Mahindra EV: Mahindra makes new history in manufacturing, 30 lakhth car rolled out from Chakan plant

Mahindra EV: Setting a new milestone in its manufacturing journey, Mahindra & Mahindra has rolled out the 30 lakh (3 million) vehicle from the Chakan plant. The company’s electric SUV Mahindra BE 6 became witness to this historic achievement. The plant currently produces 19 different models, including internal combustion engines (ICE), electric passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles.

The company expressed pride
On this achievement, R., President of Automotive Business of Mahindra & Mahindra. Velusamy said that the production of the 30 lakhth vehicle from the Chakan plant is a very proud moment for the company. He said that while it took 107 months to produce the first 10 lakh vehicles, the latest 10 lakh units were produced in just 27 months. This achievement is a result of the trust of our customers and the commitment of our employees, suppliers and partners.

Mahindra started production at the Chakan plant in December 2009. After this, in September 2018 the plant crossed the mark of 10 lakh units. The production of 20 lakh vehicles was completed in March 2024 and now in July 2026, within about 27 months, the company has achieved the new milestone of 30 lakh units.

Features of Mahindra BE 6
Mahindra BE 6 is one of the company’s first ‘Born Electric’ SUVs, developed on the INGLO platform. It was introduced in the Indian market in late 2024 along with the Mahindra XEV 9e. BE 6 has the option of 59kWh and 79kWh battery pack and is made available in five variants. Its starting ex-showroom price is ₹ 18.90 lakh.

For Mahindra, this achievement not only reflects its production capacity but also signals the company’s strong strategy towards electric mobility and future technologies.
