Mahindra’s ‘this’ car will tighten the air of Tata Sierra? Spot happened during testing

  • Spotted during Mahindra Vision S testing
  • It will directly compete with the Tata Sierra
  • Know the features of Mahindra’s new SUV

Mahindra is gearing up to introduce SUV models based on its new NU IQ multi-energy platform to the Indian market in a phased manner. The Mahindra Vision S SUV in the same series is currently under production. Recently, this SUV was spotted during road testing. The Vision S is touted to be a more compact and modern incarnation of the Scorpio, which after launch could directly compete with upcoming SUVs like the Tata Sierra.

Strong and rough-tough design

The design of Mahindra Vision S looks very strong and boxy. It is reminiscent of a traditional SUV with a straight front, flat bonnet and an overall rough-and-tough SUV look. Round headlamps and a vertical grille add a classic touch. Like the Thar Roxx, it is likely to have integration with LED DRL headlights. With the radar unit seen under the front grille in the test model, it is also expected to offer ADAS features.

High ground clearance and strong suspension

Another great feature of the Vision S is its high ground clearance. Big wheels, thick tires and long suspension make this SUV ready to run smoothly even on rough roads. According to reports, it may get 5-link rear independent suspension. The side profile features flush door handles, wide wheel arches and a straight roof. With a large glass area, the outside visibility from the cabin will be better.

Interior and features

At the rear, the Vision S retains the traditional SUV design. The spare wheel mounted on the tailgate adds to its off-road look. It is likely that a premium cabin will be offered on the inside. The SUV can get a large panoramic sunroof, two large screens on the dashboard and a new dual-tone three-spoke steering wheel. The cabin is expected to use soft-touch materials.

Mahindra has not given any official information about the engine yet. However, the Vision S can get 1.2 liter turbo petrol and 1.5 liter turbo diesel engine options. Hybrid and electric versions are also likely to be introduced in the next phase. After the launch, this SUV could prove to be a strong competitor to the Tata Sierra.
