Bangladeshi player announces retirement from T20I amid IND vs BAN T20 series, know when will he play the last match

Amidst the three T20 matches being played between India and Bangladesh, Bangladesh's veteran player Mahmudullah has announced his retirement from T20 International. This series will be his last series. The third and final match of this series to be played in Hyderabad will be the last match of Mahmudullah's T20I career.

Announced retirement in press conference

In a press conference held in Delhi, Mahmudullah told that the Hyderabad match will be his last T20 International match. 38-year-old Mahmudullah said, “I am retiring from T20 cricket after the last match of this series. I have discussed this with my family and people related to Bangladesh cricket. This is the right time for me to move on. Now I want to concentrate completely on ODI matches.

The last time a T20I match between Bangladesh and India was played in the national capital was on November 3, 2019. In which Bangladesh team won easily by defeating Indian team by 7 wickets. Recalling this victory, he said that the year 2019 was special for us. At that time the team was performing brilliantly. Due to which our confidence increased.

Stayed out of the team for 2 years

Mahmudullah's performance has been average for some time. He also remained out of the team for the last 2 years. However, this year he made a comeback and played an inning of 54 runs against Sri Lanka. But his performance in the T20 World Cup was nothing special. For this reason also he announced his retirement. He also retired from Test cricket three years ago.

Mahmudullah's T20 International career

Mahmudullah has played 139 T20 International matches and is the second highest run-scorer of Bangladesh. Only Shakib Al Hasan is ahead of him. In 139 T20 matches for Bangladesh, Mahmudullah scored 2,395 runs at a strike rate of 117.74 and also took 40 wickets.
