Mumbai: A big revelation has come to light in the shootout case that took place at the Juhu residence of film director Rohit Shetty in Mumbai. Investigation revealed that Shubham Lonkar gang was behind this incident. The gang had allegedly got the firing done by hired shooters to collect extortion of Rs 5 crore. The main shooter was Deepak, who is a resident of Agra. A total of 7 people are said to be involved in the entire shootout. All of them are residents of Agra, Noida and Etawah. After the incident, raids have been conducted in many states to track the entire network.
Uttar Pradesh STF and Mumbai Police have arrested the accused by conducting a joint operation. Main shooter Deepak and his associates Sunny, Sonu and Hrithik were arrested from Jhajjar, Haryana. Vishnu Kushwaha, Jatin Bhardwaj and Vishal were arrested from Ghaziabad. Two real brothers Sonu and Hrithik also turned out to be involved in this conspiracy. STF has taken all the seven accused into custody and handed them over to Mumbai Police. Now the layers of the entire conspiracy are being revealed through their interrogation. Police hope that there will be more big revelations in the investigation.
Investigation revealed that the Shubham Lonkar gang associated with Sriganganagar in Rajasthan had demanded extortion of Rs 5 crore. A semi-automatic pistol was provided by the gang to carry out the crime. After the firing, information about Shubham Lonkar giving huge amount to Golu Pandit has also come to light. Vishnu Kushwaha who was caught was an important link between the shooters and the gang. He contacted Deepak and his associates and got the action carried out. It is clear from this that the entire conspiracy was hatched in a well-planned manner.
Jatin Bhardwaj and Vishal had helped in hiding the accused after the firing. After committing the crime, everyone hid at different places. But on the basis of technical surveillance and intelligence input, STF caught him. Now Mumbai Police will organize an identification parade of the accused involved in the shootout. After this the legal process will be taken forward. Police claim that every link related to extortion and gang network is being investigated.
Case transferred to crime branch
After the incident, Mumbai Police registered a case under serious sections and Arms Act in Juhu police station. After initial investigation, the case was handed over to the Anti Extortion Cell of the Crime Branch. The police suspected that this case might be related to some big gang. Therefore the investigation was handed over to a special team. Anti Extortion Cell started gathering technical and field inputs. After this the series of arrests started.
Now entry of MCOCA
First, five accused were arrested by the police. During interrogation, links related to organized crime came to light. After this, sections of MCOCA were also added to the case. This was an indication that the police suspected some big network. After the imposition of MCOCA, the scope of investigation increased further. The police have now also started investigating funding and foreign connections.
Joint operation of UP and Haryana STF
As the investigation progressed, Uttar Pradesh STF and Haryana STF were also included. Six more accused were arrested in the joint action. These include main shooter Deepak. Everyone is being brought to Mumbai under tight security. Agra STF and Mumbai Police reached Mumbai airport with the accused. Now intensive interrogation of him is going on.
12 accused arrested so far
A total of 12 arrests have been made so far in this case. The latest arrest took place from Agra in Uttar Pradesh. Police arrested the accused Vishnu Kushwaha. Earlier, four accused were arrested from Bahadurgarh in Haryana. This action took place in a joint operation of Mumbai Crime Branch and Haryana STF. Police claim that important clues have been found from this operation.
Raid in Bahadurgarh
The action taken in Bahadurgarh was carried out with complete strategy. According to Haryana STF SP Vikrant Bhushan, the Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai Police had contacted. After this a joint team was formed. All the accused are said to be residents of Uttar Pradesh. Now he is being brought to Mumbai and interrogated. Police hope that more layers of the network will be revealed.
Deepak turns out to be the main shooter
Investigation revealed that Deepak was the main shooter in this incident. He was the one who fired at Rohit Shetty’s house. Sunny and Sonu had earlier done recce of the house with him. After recce, firing was carried out as per the complete plan. Another accused Hrithik helped the shooters to hide. Modern and foreign weapons were used in the incident.
Four faces involved in firing
Deepak Sharma, Sunny, Sonu and an absconding accused were involved in this firing. At the time of the incident, Deepak opened fire, while the other accused were present nearby. After the incident, all four ran away on different routes. He reached Kalyan station and from there took a train and left for Agra. Sonu had previously lived in Kalyan for two years. Later he returned to his village Agra and was involved in arms supply work.

Investigation revealed that Deepak was in contact with people associated with Lawrence Bishnoi gang. He was connected to Hari Boxer and Arju Bishnoi sitting abroad. It was told that these people gave the task of firing. Contact was made through social media and then the entire conspiracy was hatched. Deepak was initially given Rs 50 thousand. A promise was made to get more money later.

Investigation also revealed that Arju Bishnoi had contacted Shubham Lonkar. Shubham Lonkar is already said to be wanted in Baba Siddiqui case. However, it has not been confirmed that the shooters talked to him directly. But during planning, discussions took place at many levels. The police is also trying to connect this link. The investigation has reached more depth from this angle.

Sunny, Sonu and Deepak reached Mumbai first. Both of them did recce of the house and inspected the area. After this, Deepak opened fire as per the fixed plan. Foreign weapons were used in this incident. The shooters had received advance of Rs 50 thousand. He was confident that a huge amount would be paid after the work.
The accused hid after the incident
After the firing the accused hid at different places. Some stayed in Delhi-NCR and some stayed in hotels. After about four-five days, they reached the hideout built in a field in Bahadurgarh. The police was continuously tracking his location. Eventually everyone was caught in the joint operation. Now new revelations are emerging during his interrogation.
Connection with Ranveer Singh case?
At present, no direct connection to any case related to actor Ranveer Singh has come to light in this matter. However, the police is also investigating this angle. Investigative agencies are trying to find out whether the same gang is working on several high-profile targets. No official confirmation has been made at present. The situation will become clear only after inquiry.

Hari Boxer had taken responsibility for the attack. After the incident, security of Rohit Shetty was increased. Now the investigation is being done by the team of Inspector Sunil Pawar of Anti Extortion Cell. Within 15 days the police arrested almost all the accused. Now preparation for the charge sheet is going on. Police claim that the entire network will be exposed and every link of the conspiracy will be presented in the court.
