Mainhart gave defamation notice of Rs 100 crore to Saryu Rai, again the issue of Ranchi sewerage dispute heated up.
Ranchi: Singapore’s Mainhart Company has sent a defamation notice of Rs 100 crore to senior Jharkhand leader Saryu Rai. This notice has been sent due to Saryu Rai’s years-old allegations on alleged irregularities in the Ranchi sewerage project. Saryu Rai had made allegations against the world’s largest consultant company Mainhart in 2006. He had said that there had been irregularities in the appointment of consultants to build the sewerage-drainage system of Ranchi. At that time, former Chief Minister Raghubar Das was the Urban Development Minister. After receiving the defamation notice, Saryu Rai responded by saying that after 20 years he realized that I had defamed him in this matter.
Hemant Soren paid tribute to Champai Soren’s grandson Veer Soren, Chief Minister said – there can be no greater sorrow than this.
In fact, Manhart Company was given the responsibility for sewerage-drainage in Ranchi in 2005-06, but the work was not completed. Saryu Rai demanded an investigation. The matter reached ACB and court but no action was taken against the company. The court, while dismissing the case, advised Saryu Rai to complain about this matter in any police station, after which Saryu Rai lodged a complaint in the Ranchi police station. On the other hand, Manhart Company has now started the siege of Saryu Rai. The company has said that when the then government did not take the decision as per Saryu Rai, it kept disputing the matter. He has also defamed the company by writing a book on this issue. Therefore, a case should be filed against them. The company has claimed that from the beginning to the end, all the decisions regarding the consultancy of sewerage-drainage in Ranchi in the year 2005-06 have been taken by the cabinet or the competent level.
