Major accident averted on Rampurhat-Gumani railway section of Pakur, mischievous elements damaged concrete sleepers

Pakudh A major criminal conspiracy hatched by anti-social elements on Rampurhat-Gumani railway section under Howrah Railway Division has been foiled in time. About half a dozen concrete sleepers of the railway track were deliberately damaged on the down route between Kotalpokhar and Tilbhitta stations in Pakur district.

According to railway officials, if this conspiracy had succeeded, it would have not only caused huge financial loss to the Railways, but also could have resulted in a major railway accident with huge loss of life and property.

As soon as information about the incident was received, there was panic in the railway administration. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, senior officials of Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police immediately reached the spot and started a thorough investigation of the matter. Reaching the spot, officials inspected the damaged sleepers and interrogated local staff and eyewitnesses.
Railway’s Senior Section Engineer Ujjwal Kumar has lodged a written complaint with the GRP regarding this criminal case. On the basis of this complaint, GRP has registered case number 1/2026 against unknown anti-social elements. Police and RPF teams are now investigating who is behind this vandalism and what was its motive.
