Major accident in Khallari temple of Chhattisgarh, trolley fell down due to breaking of ropeway cable; One woman died, 16 injured

Mahasamund: A very sad incident came to light on Sunday morning from Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh, which changed the atmosphere of reverence into mourning. The journey to Khallari Mata temple suddenly became frightening for the devotees who came for darshan on the occasion of Navratri, when the ropeway trolley met with an accident midway.

According to the information, this accident happened at around 10 in the morning. At that time, a large number of devotees were returning after visiting the temple and were using the ropeway trolley to get down. Meanwhile, the main cable supporting the trolley suddenly broke. As soon as the cable broke, the trolley lost balance and fell straight to the ground from a height. While falling, the trolley overturned, due to which the people in it were badly injured.

One woman died, several injured

In this accident, 28-year-old Ayushi Satkar, resident of Raipur, died on the spot. A total of 16 people have been injured in the accident.
The injured were immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where after first aid, four people were referred to Raipur as their condition was critical. According to doctors, his condition remains critical.

There was a huge crowd due to Navratri

Due to Navratri, the number of devotees in the temple was much more than on normal days. It is believed that this accident may have happened due to more people sitting in the trolley or due to technical fault. However, the true reason will emerge only after investigation.

There was chaos in the temple premises after the accident. Screaming started being heard all around. As soon as the information was received, the police and administration team reached the spot and started relief work. Local people helped in taking out the injured and took them to the hospital.

Questions raised on maintenance

After this accident, questions have been raised regarding the safety and maintenance of the ropeway. Eyewitnesses say that if there had been timely investigation and monitoring, perhaps this accident could have been avoided. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the administration has ordered an investigation and currently the ropeway service has been closed.

The temple is situated on a hill

The temple of Khallari Mata is situated on the top of a hill, about 25 kilometers from Mahasamund. To reach here, devotees have to climb about 800 stairs. A large number of people come here for darshan during Navratri. Every year a fair is organized here during Chaitra Purnima.
