Up news: Ghaziabad Police has detained a woman, Iram alias Shane Mehraj, resident of Deepa Sarai in Sambhal district. Police allege that Iram was spying for Pakistan.
Important clues found in mobile
Police investigation revealed that Iram’s mobile phone contained locations, photos and videos of sensitive areas related to the defense of Delhi-NCR. Apart from this, evidence of chatting on some foreign numbers has also been found. Intelligence agencies are investigating these thoroughly.
The accused was in contact with organized network
Police officials say that the evidence found indicates that Iram was in contact with some organized espionage network. She was living with her husband Faizan in Mussoorie area of Ghaziabad for the last two years. Faizan is a truck driver by profession and both of them got married about three years ago. Two days ago, the couple had gone to their village Deepa Sarai to celebrate Eid. Meanwhile, the police took action and arrested Iram. Now the intelligence agencies are deeply investigating the entire network and trying to find out with whom Iram was associated and what information he was given the responsibility to collect.
Dubious history of Deepa Sarai
Deepa Sarai area of Sambhal district has been in the news for suspicious activities earlier also. In the year 2023, two youths associated with ISIS were arrested. Apart from this, notorious terrorist Asim Umar associated with Al-Qaeda is also said to be a resident of this area. Due to these incidents, Deepa Sarai has been under the surveillance of security agencies for a long time. After the latest arrest, this area has again come on the radar of the agencies.
