Major administrative reshuffle in Delhi, more than 20 IAS officers get new posting
New Delhi : The Services Department of Delhi Government presented an important instruction on the night of 8 April 2026, under which more than 20 senior IAS and DANICS officers working in Delhi Administration have been transferred with immediate effect.

Highlights of administrative changes
Its main objective is to improve infrastructure and public services in the capital. This list of transfers includes the names of secretaries and district magistrates of many important departments. IAS Narendra Kumar and Prashant Goyal have been appointed to the most sensitive and important posts of the government. He has been given the responsibility of strategic departments so that the implementation of all government policies can be done expeditiously. Administrative officials say this step has been taken to speed up Delhi’s next budget and key infrastructure projects.
changes at district level
New District Magistrates (DM) have been appointed in many districts of Delhi. In this change, an attempt has been made to create a balance of young and experienced officers so that law and order and revenue administration can be further strengthened.

AGMUT cadre coordination
In the last few months, many officers of AGMUT cadre (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories) have returned to Delhi. As per the latest instructions, officers returned from Union Territories have been appointed to various departments of Delhi based on their expertise.
education and health
Responsibility has been redistributed between these two main departments so as to reduce bureaucratic delays in projects related to maintenance of schools and hospitals.
Municipal Corporation (MCD)

Some officers in the administrative structure of the Municipal Corporation have also been given additional responsibilities so that they can better focus on the cleanliness and waste management of the city.
This change has been made after reviewing the administrative efficiency by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. According to experts, this change can help in improving administrative coordination between the Delhi government and the office of the Lieutenant Governor.
