Big blow to LPG Gas Cylinder consumers, action will be taken against selling or transferring cylinders online!
LPG Gas Connection Rules: Oil marketing companies (OMCs) have issued a new warning to consumers regarding LPG gas cylinders. The companies have said that, LPG cylinders are given to consumers for use only on the basis of security deposit, while their ownership remains with the respective oil company.
According to the advisory issued, no consumer can sell or transfer the gas cylinder issued in his name to any other person. Doing so will be considered a violation of rules and legal action can also be taken for this.
Major action will be taken against online selling
The companies have also clarified that LPG cylinders cannot be sold or listed on any online marketplace, social media platform or non-authorized medium. Cylinders available on such platforms may be counterfeit, unauthorized or contrary to safety standards, increasing the risk of accidents and fraud.
Cylinders are given on security deposit
Bharat Gas Company said that LPG gas cylinders are given to planets on security deposit. Its ownership rests with the oil company only. Along with this, the consumer has the right to use the cylinder. He himself cannot transfer it in the name of another person. Doing so will be considered illegal.
You will get security money on surrendering LPG connection.
According to OMCs, if a consumer has got piped natural gas (PNG) connection installed in his house and is no longer using the LPG cylinder, he should surrender his LPG connection by visiting the nearest gas agency. The original security amount deposited will be refunded on surrender of connection.

Oil companies have advised consumers to do any transaction related to gas cylinder only through an authorized gas agency. Buying or selling a cylinder from another person is not only illegal, but it can also lead to financial loss and safety risks.
