There will be major development of Ambedkar memorials in UP, government approved Rs. 403 crores, the plan got cabinet approval.
Yogi Adityanath government has taken a big decision regarding social justice and heritage conservation in the state. The state cabinet has approved “Dr Ambedkar Statue Development Scheme”, under which canopy (shade) and boundary wall will be constructed on all Ambedkar statues. A total of Rs 403 crore will be spent on this scheme, which will lead to comprehensive development of monuments across the state.
Development of 10 monuments in every assembly
Under this ambitious plan, 10 major sites and monuments related to Bhimrao Ambedkar will be developed in every assembly of Uttar Pradesh. These places will not only be preserved but will also be beautified so that they become centers of social awareness and inspiration.
Memorials of other great men will also be included
The government has not limited the scope of this scheme only to Ambedkar. Under this, memorials of great saints and social reformers like Saint Ravidas, Kabir, Jyotiba Phule and Maharishi Valmiki will also be developed. This will promote social harmony and historical heritage.
CM Yogi had already announced
Yogi Adityanath had already announced this scheme in a public meeting. He had said that wherever there is a statue of Ambedkar in the state, a canopy will be installed there and the surrounding parks will be beautified and boundary walls will be constructed. Now concrete steps have been taken towards implementing this announcement on the ground.
Political significance before 2027 elections
This decision is also considered very important from the political point of view. The vote bank of the Dalit community in Uttar Pradesh is about 22 percent and it has a direct impact on more than 150 assembly seats. In such a situation, this step is being seen as a strategy to woo Dalit voters before the 2027 assembly elections.
changing political equations
In the politics of the state, Mayawati has been considered the biggest leader of Dalits for a long time. However, his party’s influence has decreased in recent years. After 2014, a large part of the Dalit votes went towards BJP, but some changes were seen in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“Dr. Ambedkar Murti Vikas Yojana” is not just a development project but is an important initiative from both social and political point of view. On one hand, efforts are being made to preserve the historical heritage, on the other hand, the strategy to solve social equations is also clearly visible in view of the upcoming elections.
