Big initiative to control pollution; Green signal given to 100 electric buses, women of Delhi will get pink card benefit

To reduce the increasing pollution in Delhi, Rekha Gupta government has flagged off 100 new electric buses. With this, Delhi’s interstate bus service also started. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that today we are starting Delhi Interstate bus service, which will run between Delhi and Dharuhera. This is an important step in the field of inter-state connectivity. Also, 100 new electric buses (EV buses) will also run on the roads of Delhi from today.

Rekha Gupta said that the most effective way to control pollution is to strengthen public transport. Our aim is that Delhi’s public transport system should become so convenient and advanced that people give preference to public transport instead of private vehicles.

Let us tell you that currently 3,400 electric buses are operating in Delhi. The government aims to further increase this number by next year, so that the entire bus fleet can be fully electric in a phased manner. University bus services, which were discontinued in previous years, have also been restarted. Rekha Gupta said that due to lack of pollution testing centers in Delhi, a large number of vehicles were plying on the roads without valid pollution certificate (PUC). To solve this problem, new ‘Automatic Testing Centres’ will be established in Nand Nagri, Tehkhand and Burari.

CM further made a big announcement saying that currently free travel facility in buses continues for the women of Delhi. To make it more convenient, a new ‘Pink Card’ system will be introduced soon. After the implementation of this system, women will not need to buy tickets every time. She will swipe the card only once and can travel any number of times throughout the day.

Rekha Gupta further said that the Delhi government is giving full support to the fourth phase (Phase-4) of the Metro. A large budget has been allocated for this so that the metro network can be expanded rapidly. He said that renovation of all the interstate bus stands (ISBT) of the capital is going on. Sarai Kale Khan and Anand Vihar are being redeveloped with modern facilities and technology, which will significantly increase their capacity. Along with this, bus depots are also being upgraded for new electric buses. Charging stations are being installed in all the depots for smooth operation of the electric fleet.
