The delegation, led by the Minister of International Affairs of the Province of Quebec in Canada, Christopher Skit, met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhavan. The Chief Minister was speaking during the discussion with the delegation. State Etiquette Minister Jayakumar Rawal was present on the occasion. Chief Minister Fadnavis said that during his visit to Montreal in 2018, MoUs were signed on information technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, biotechnology and tribal welfare. This agreement symbolizes the strengthening of the relationship between Maharashtra and Quebec. Also, during the recent visit to Mumbai, a high-level delegation led by Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had a positive discussion about investment opportunities in Maharashtra.

An education center is being set up in Navi Mumbai and all the necessary infrastructure is being created at this place. In this education, the Chief Minister also appealed that universities in Quebec should open their campuses and start courses related to the subject of ‘Mining Engineering’.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said that along with the infrastructure projects in the state, the work on the expansion port project is going on. There is an easy policy for setting up industries by investing in the state. Investment in the state is a long-term positive outcome. Investing in ‘Critical and Strategic Minerals’ is a great opportunity for investors in Quebec.

Maharashtra is coming forward in the field of new technology

A lot of work is going on in the state in the field of aerospace and defense. A ‘Defence Corridor’ is being constructed in Nagpur area. Hence, the ecosystem of the aerospace sector is expanding rapidly. Similarly, Maharashtra is coming forward in the field of GCC, data center, battery storage, new technology in agriculture. Therefore, Chief Minister Fadnavis also highlighted that Quebec should have a long-term partnership with Maharashtra.

Quebec Province International Affairs Minister Christopher Skit said that Quebec is an advanced state in Canada and has huge investments in artificial intelligence, data centers, education, critical minerals. Quebec is ready to partner with Maharashtra in various sectors. Quebec has prepared to invest heavily in India through a pension fund organization. Skit also said that Maharashtra is interested in investing in various sectors through partnerships.

On this occasion the Principal Secretary of Industry Department Dr. P. Anbalgan, Rajesh Gawande, Secretary of Royal Etiquette Department, Dominique Marcotte, Assistant Deputy Minister of International Affairs of the Province of Quebec in Canada, Counselor Mrs. Lia Furtin, Director Michael Constantin, Stephen Falekker, Natarajan Venkataraman, Managing Director of CDPQ Investment Institute in Quebec Province, India etc. were present.
