Big opportunity for women, recruitment of 2584 operators in Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation

Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation has taken a big step towards opening new employment opportunities for women in Uttar Pradesh. The corporation has announced the recruitment of 2584 women conductors on contract basis. The aim of this initiative is not only to make women self-reliant but also to increase their participation in the public transport system.

Appointment will be given in home district

The special thing about this recruitment process is that the selected women candidates will be posted in the depot of their home district only. This will give them the opportunity to work close to their families and the problem of transportation will also be reduced. This decision is especially a relief for those women who are hesitant in taking up remote jobs.

Qualification and Selection Process

According to Minister of State for Transport Dayashankar Singh, the minimum educational qualification for this recruitment has been fixed as Intermediate. Along with this, it is mandatory for the candidates to have CCC (Computer Concept Course) certificate.

Selection will be purely on the basis of merit, in which the marks obtained in Intermediate will be taken as the basis. Additionally, candidates who have NCC ‘B’ Certificate, NSS Certificate or State or President’s Award of Bharat Scouts and Guides will be given 5% additional marks in merit.

Easy process through employment fairs

To make the recruitment process simple and transparent, job fairs are being organized in different cities of the state. These fairs will give women the opportunity to apply and get information directly on the spot.

On March 25, fairs will be organized in Saharanpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Chitrakoot Dham-Banda and Prayagraj. On March 28, applications can be made in Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Bareilly, Ayodhya and Varanasi. Fairs will be organized in Meerut, Etawah, Hardoi, Devipatan and Azamgarh on March 30, while on April 1, events will be held in Noida, Agra, Moradabad, Lucknow and Gorakhpur.

Association with missions is mandatory

For this recruitment, it is also necessary for the candidates to be associated with Uttar Pradesh National Rural Livelihood Mission or Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission. This will ensure that the selected women have already benefited from the skill development programmes.

Equal Remuneration and Empowerment

Selected women conductors will be given equal remuneration as other drivers and conductors working on contract. This step will not only promote economic empowerment but will also strengthen women’s participation in the transport sector.
