Major rail accident averted at midnight, fire breaks out in Patna-Bandra Superfast Express at Dumraon station

Last night, a major rail accident was averted at Dumraon railway station when a fire broke out in the lower section of the general bogie of the Patna-Bandra Superfast Express. The incident occurred around midnight on Wednesday, when the train was passing near Tudiganj railway station in Buxar district. Suddenly flames started rising from the lower part of the general bogie of the train, causing chaos at the station.

How a major accident was averted

Railway employees immediately informed the railway control room and fire brigade, after which the train was stopped at Dumraon railway station. Here the 13-member team of officers and fire brigade brought the fire under control after hard work. Due to the fire, a fatal situation had arisen between the wheel and axle of the LHB bogie of the train.

However, water was not used to avoid clogging of the flywheel and coolant. Instead, the fire was extinguished using an extinguisher cylinder. About three hours later, after the fire was completely brought under control, the train was moved from Dumraon to Buxar, although the bogie affected by the fire was left behind.

Officer Vinod Kumar told

Fire brigade officer Vinod Kumar said that the fire had created the possibility of massive damage, but due to timely action, a major accident was averted. Due to the quick decision of the officials and the promptness of the fire brigade, the passengers remained safe and the train could proceed on its onward journey.
