Major Setback for New Zealand in 2nd Test

On the first day of the second Test against the West Indies, New Zealand faced a severe setback when fast bowler Blair Tickner dislocated his left shoulder and was subsequently taken off the ground on a stretcher.

The contest started on the 10th of December, and Tickner was making his Test comeback after being out for almost a year. He had been selected to the squad because other New Zealand fast bowlers were already sidelined with injuries.

Tickner opened his account with four fireplace days’ work. The West Indies were made to face the music by the Kiwis, and he was soon to be the one everybody was talking about, the one who got through their batting and took four wickets for only 32 runs, thus being named the best bowler for the home team.

However, in the 63rd over of the West Indies innings, things turned ugly. Tickner was pursuing a shot played by Tevon Imlach that was going in the direction of the boundary.

He went all out and spread himself to prevent the ball from going over. Unfortunately, he fell down awkwardly and didn’t move, showing that he was in agony. His fellow players rushed to him and the medics were there in no time. A stretcher was then used to take him off the ground where he was sitting upright and getting a round of applause from the fans at the Basin Reserve. An ambulance then took him for more examinations at the hospital.

New Zealand has set aside a lot of fast bowlers for the ongoing series, with Matt Henry, Nathan Smith, Ben Sears, Will O’Rourke, and Matt Fisher all part of the injured list.

Tickner’s in-game injury is like a cherry on top of the cake, so to speak, for New Zealand. In case he is not able to carry on, New Zealand will be forced to field a very raw pace attack consisting of Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, and newbie Michael Rae.

Tickner Before getting injured had been instrumental in restricting West Indies to a mere 205 runs, and the manner in which he did this was by trapping both, Brandon King and Kavem Hodge lbw, and delivering a sharp bouncer that knocked over Shai Hope, and finally bowling Roston Chase
