Ingredients required to make Pesarattu
Whole Green Moong Dal: 1 cup (soaked for 4-5 hours)
Rice: 2 teaspoons (to add crispiness)
Ginger: 1 inch piece
Green chilly: 2-3 (as per taste)
Cumin: 1 tbsp
Salt: as per taste
Onion: finely chopped (for topping)
Oil or Ghee: to bake
Easy method to make (Step-by-Step Method)
Grind pulses: Wash the soaked moong dal and rice with clean water. Now add pulses, rice, ginger, green chilli, cumin and some water in the mixer. Smooth Batter Get it ready.
Set up the solution: Take out the prepared solution in a big vessel. Add salt to it as per taste. The consistency of the batter should be like dosa batter – neither too thick, nor too thin.
Prepare the griddle: Heat a non-stick pan. Sprinkle a few drops of water on it and wipe it with a cloth. Now reduce the flame to medium.
Spread Pesarattu: Pour a tablespoonful of batter in the center of the pan and spread it thinly by rotating it.
Toppings and Cooking: Add some oil or ghee on the edges of the dosa. Now sprinkle some finely chopped onion and green coriander on top.
Let it be crispy: When the bottom surface becomes golden and crisp, turn it (or cook one side thoroughly). Your hot pesarattu is ready!
