Malaika Arora attends Anil Mehta's prayer meet at Gurudwara

Mumbai Mumbai. Malaika Arora's stepfather Anil Mehta passed away on September 11, 2024, when he committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of his sixth-floor residence in Ayesha Manor, Bandra, Mumbai. Days after his unfortunate demise, the Chaiyya Chaiyya star was spotted attending a prayer meeting at a Gurudwara in Santacruz, Mumbai. Malaika Arora attended the prayer meeting for her stepfather along with her sister Amrita Arora and best friend Kareena Kapoor Khan. Her ex-boyfriend Arjun Kapoor was also spotted in a video exiting the Gurudwara after offering prayers. Hrithik Roshan's ex-wife Sussanne Khan was also present.

In another video, Malaika's mother Joyce Polycarp was seen arriving at the gurudwara dressed in a sari. Earlier, according to India Today, it was reported that moments before committing suicide, Anil made one last call to Malaika and Amrita, telling them, “I'm sick and tired.”

Malaika released an official statement on her social media handle confirming the demise of her stepfather Anil and also asked for 'privacy' from her fans. Malaika said, “Our family is deeply shocked by this loss, and we request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support and respect. With gratitude, Joyce, Malaika, Amrita, Shakeel, Arhaan, Azaan, Ryan, Casper, XL, Duffy and Buddy.”
