Malayalam actor to proceed with sexual harassment case against M Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Idavela Babu

A 51-year-old Malayalam woman actor, who recently filed sexual harassment complaints against prominent actors in the film industry, has declared her intention to pursue the cases legally, asserting she will not withdraw her complaints. Among those accused by the complainant are several male actors, including Jayasurya, M Mukesh, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Idavela Babu. Speaking to the media, she revealed that her family had encouraged her to continue her fight, prompting her to reconsider an earlier decision to step back. She further stated that her husband had urged her to proceed with the cases, offering full family support and assuring her there was no reason to retreat after enduring such harassment.

The complainant had previously expressed hesitation on Friday about continuing her complaints, citing a “lack of support and protection from the Kerala government” as well as “mental exhaustion” as key reasons for her reluctance. She also alleged that efforts were made to falsely implicate her in a POCSO case after she filed harassment complaints against the actors.

The allegations emerged in the wake of the Justice Hema Committee report, which uncovered extensive harassment and exploitation of women within the Malayalam film industry. The Kerala government established the committee following the 2017 actress assault case. The committee’s findings, recently submitted to the Kerala High Court, were handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with investigating sexual abuse complaints within the industry. Acting on the report, the SIT has registered 26 FIRs.

The complainant has reiterated her commitment to cooperating fully with the investigation and emphasised that none of her complaints will be withdrawn.
