Malaysia gives each student $33 in school aid
The Malaysian government is set to disburse a MYR791 million (US$176 million) school aid to students starting Jan. 13.
Each student will receive a one-off payment of MYR150 (US$33), according to the state-owned news agency Named.

The allocation, which applies to students from Year 1 (first grade of formal education) to Form 6 (pre-university level), is set to benefit more than 5.2 million individuals.
The Education Ministry will disburse the aid through cash payment or bank crediting.
The initiative highlights the government’s concern to help ease the financial burden of parents and guardians preparing for their children’s school needs, the ministry said.
The aid includes Form 6 students for the first time this year.
