Malaysia's largest stadium turns into debris in 6 seconds, video of demolition going viral

Obnews Desk: Malaysia's famous Shah Alam Stadium with a capacity of 80,000 spectators has been demolished. The Malaysian government has taken this decision due to security reasons, and it was also not being maintained properly for many years. This stadium was considered unsafe in the year 2020, after which the government decided to destroy it. The process of demolishing this stadium began in July 2024 and it is expected to be completely destroyed by May 2025.

Many big events have been held in this historic stadium, including concerts of many international artists. The video of its demolition is becoming very viral on social media. This stadium is also special because matches of English clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have also been held here. Shah Alam Sports Complex will now be built in place of this stadium.

New stadium will be built by 2029

The new stadium will have a capacity of between 35,000 and 45,000 and will mainly host football matches. The Shah Alam Sports Complex project is estimated to be completed by 2029. Since its opening, the stadium has played an important role in Malaysia's sports. However, it was neglected for a long time, after which it is finally being demolished.

Let us tell you that this stadium with a capacity of 80 thousand spectators, built 30 years ago, was once the largest stadium in the world, but in 2020 it was considered completely dilapidated. After this, the Malaysian government planned to build a new stadium in its place within a year.

Construction of the original Shah Alam Stadium began on 1 January 1990 and it was officially opened on 16 July 1994. On 29 July 2008, the stadium hosted an exhibition match between the Malaysia Select Team and Chelsea, where the English side won the match 2–0 thanks to goals from Nicolas Anelka and Ashley Cole.
