Malaysian singer Firdhaus denies cheating on singer ex-girlfriend Diorlying Tan

On Nov. 18, Firdhaus addressed the rumors through an Instagram post, clarifying that he was not unfaithful, according to The Strait Times. “I was not unfaithful, but I do not deny that I have been getting to know other people in the two months since our break-up,” he wrote.

Firdhaus and Tan, both 25, ended their four-year relationship in October. The pair had gained popularity with their 2023 duet “Divorce In Ghana” and publicly shared their romance that same year.

Firdhaus also elaborated on his connection with another woman, whom he had initially met during a photoshoot years ago and reunited with during his concerts in Australia last month. “I got to know this girl a few years back from a shoot. Although we’ve worked together a few times, we did not grow close until we had to get in touch again for some shoots for my concerts in Australia last month. I do indeed have positive feelings for her, and even visited her in Australia on my days off, but we are not together.”

He urged the public to avoid targeting the woman, emphasizing she was not a third party in his break-up with Tan.

Tan allegedly addressed the situation on a private Instagram account on Nov. 17, stating: “I’ve never said that (Firdhaus) cheated, he just found someone else pretty quickly.”

In response, Firdhaus denied these claims, asserting that they split their expenses equally during their relationship and that Tan funded her own music projects without his help.

Despite his explanations, the controversy has negatively affected Firdhaus’s career. He reportedly lost 30,000 Instagram followers within four days, reducing his count to 593,000 as of Nov. 20.

Brands and event organizers have also distanced themselves. Chinese smartphone brand Vivo canceled his appearance at the X200 series launch event on Nov. 19, and he was reportedly removed from the “Different Ways of Love” concert in Kuala Lumpur on Dec. 15, which includes Tan in the lineup, as reported by 8 Days.

Firdhaus, whose full name is Firdhaus Farmizi, gained fame in 2020 when his Mandarin song “Gulf Of Alaska” became a viral sensation on TikTok’s Chinese counterpart Douyin. Despite his Malaysian roots, he mastered Mandarin by attending Chinese-language schools since kindergarten.
