Pragya Thakur's troubles increase, warrant issued in Malegaon blast case
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pragya Thakur's troubles have increased in the Malegaon blast case of Maharashtra. The Mumbai Special Court issued a bailable warrant against him for not appearing in the proceedings in the 2008 blast case. Special Judge AK Lahoti said that the final arguments in the case are still going on. In such a situation, it is necessary for the accused to be present.
According to the information, a bailable warrant of Rs 10,000 has been issued against Pragya Thakur, which can be returned by November 13. That means Thakur will have to appear in the court by then and get it cancelled. Here, the BJP leader's lawyer has requested the special NIA court to give him appropriate time to remain present, citing health problems.
The court rejected the petition
The court says that accused Pragya Thakur has not participated in the court proceedings since June 4. The special judge said, his previous applications for exemption on the grounds of illness and hospitalization have been considered from time to time. The court also rejected his petition seeking time for appearance. The court said, 'Today, the application was filed along with a photocopy of the medical certificate showing that she is taking Ayurvedic treatment, but the original certificate has not been attached.'
The blast took place in 2008
Let it be known that on September 29, 2008, a bomb exploded in a motorcycle near a mosque in Malegaon city of northern Maharashtra, about 200 km from Mumbai. In this incident, 6 people lost their lives and more than 100 were injured. Pragya Thakur, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit and five others are facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for their alleged involvement in the blast conspiracy. The initial investigation of this case was done by Maharashtra ATS, then in 2011 the responsibility of this case was given to the National Investigation Agency.
