Mallikarjun Kharge PM Modi Terrorist Remark: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge A fresh controversy erupted after he referred to Prime Minister Modi as a ‘terrorist’ on Tuesday. Kharge made this statement about Prime Minister Modi while addressing a press conference held in Chennai. However, he later clarified his statement. The BJP has strongly criticized the Congress over Kharge’s statement and has said that it is ashamed that the Congress party has fallen to such a low level.

During a press conference, Mallikarjun Kharge said, “How can these AIADMK members who post pictures of Annadurai himself join hands with Modi? He (Modi) is a terrorist. His party does not believe in equality and justice. These people are joining hands with him, which means they are undermining democracy.”

When asked about the ‘terrorist’ statement made about Prime Minister Modi, Kharge clarified. He said that the basic thrust of his statement was that PM Modi keeps his opponents ‘terrorised’; Because central investigation agencies are working on BJP’s warning.

Explaining his stand, he said, “He (PM Modi) is threatening people and political parties. I never said he himself is a terrorist. I want to make it clear that Modi is constantly threatening. Organizations like ED, Income Tax Department (IT) and CBI are under his control. He is even trying to take the process of delimitation of constituencies into his hands.”

BJP’s reply
Union Minister Piyush Goyal hit out at Kharge over his ‘terrorist’ statement about Prime Minister Modi and demanded an apology from him. “We are ashamed that the Congress party has stooped to such a low level. They have called the democratically elected prime minister ‘terrorist’. They have been elected by the people. I strongly condemn Kharge’s statement and demand an apology from him for insulting Prime Minister Modi, as well as the people of our country,” he said.
