Mamta’s allegation on BJP: Said- EVMs can be changed, appeal to supporters and booth agents to keep a close watch

West Bengal Election: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has intensified the political stir by giving a big statement regarding Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during a public meeting in Murshidabad on Sunday. He appealed to his supporters and booth agents to keep a close watch on the EVM machines and remain alert to prevent any kind of tampering. Mamata Banerjee said, “Check all the EVM machines thoroughly. I know their plan. After voting, they can go inside and change the machines under the supervision of central forces, so 24-hour surveillance will have to be done.” He also warned that tampering or hacking of EVMs should not be allowed under any circumstances.

Along with this, he also raised questions on the special intensive voter list revision (SIR) process. Mamata alleged that the process was being used to intimidate voters and remove their names from the list. He claimed that around 500 officers have been removed from Murshidabad, due to which administrative work may be affected. However, he expressed confidence that the situation will become normal after the elections.

Mamata Banerjee also made a big announcement on the political front. He said that in future a separate budget will be brought for farmers, which will strengthen the agriculture sector. Meanwhile, he indicated that this time he will face BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari from Bhawanipur seat. Bhawanipur seat has been a stronghold of Mamata Banerjee, from where she has been the MLA continuously since 2011. But this time the election has become even more interesting because of the direct competition with Adhikari.

At present, the SIR process in the state is going on under the supervision of the judiciary. After this process, a big change has been seen in the number of voters. While earlier the total voters were around 7.66 crore, now this number has come down to around 7.04 crore. West Bengal Assembly elections will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29, while counting of votes will be done on May 4. In such a situation, this statement of Mamata Banerjee has further heated up the election atmosphere.
