Mamta Banerjee said that I heard that some people of BJP are saying that they do not appreciate Netaji. So tell me, you don’t give respect to Netaji, Tagore and Rajaram Mohan Roy, then who do you give respect to?

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while clarifying her decision of not going to the Bhagavad Gita recitation program held in Kolkata, said that she did not go because this program was related to BJP. Lakhs of people attended this program organized by Sanatan Sanskriti Sansad on Sunday, which was seen as a big display of Hindu identity before the 2026 assembly elections.

Speaking to the media at the airport, Mamata Banerjee said that if the program had been fair, I would have definitely gone. I belong to a political party and follow an ideology. I respect every religion and every community. But how can I go to a program with which BJP is directly associated? She said that I do not participate in such events where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is insulted or the principles of Mahatma Gandhi are not followed. My parents did not teach me this. I am not with those who insult Bengal and are anti-Bangla.
