New Delhi: Amidst the election atmosphere in West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made an important announcement for muezzins and priests. The state government has decided to increase their monthly honorarium by Rs 500, after which now these professionals will get an honorarium of Rs 2000 every month. The Chief Minister said that these people play an important role in keeping the society and religious traditions alive, hence it is necessary to give them respect and support.
Approval of new application
Mamata Banerjee also clarified that the new application sent by the muezzins and priests has been approved. It is the effort of the government to give equal importance to the traditions of every community and strengthen them.

Additionally, Mamata Banerjee has informed about the payment of outstanding dearness allowance for state employees, pensioners, teachers and non-teaching staff of educational institutions. This payment will start from March 2026, for which the Finance Department has issued necessary instructions.
