Mamata Banerjee on Central Government: Former Chief Minister of West Bengal and Sarvesarva of Trinamool Congress Mamata Banerjee strongly condemned the police lathicharge during the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) ‘Sansad Chalo’ campaign. Banerjee wrote on social media site X, “I strongly condemn the police brutality of our youth and students in Delhi today.” He asked ironically, “What kind of government is this that fears its own students? What kind of democracy is it that answers questions with baton charges and teargas instead of dialogue?” Mamata Banerjee said, “This country belongs to students, farmers, women, laborers and every citizen. Dissent is not a crime. Cruelty is not governance.”

She said, “I stand firmly behind my young brothers and sisters. There can be no compromise when it comes to accountability. I salute each and every one of them for their courage, strength and immense enthusiasm. They have shown the nation what fearlessness is all about.”

JP Nadda On CJP Protest: Cockroach Janata Party agitation will be withdrawn? J. P. Political discussions increased with Nadda’s statement

Meanwhile, supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party staged a march on Parliament to demand the resignation of the Education Minister over the NEET paper leak case. Security forces fired tear gas and lathicharge near Shastri Bhawan in Delhi as scores of protesters tried to approach Jantar Mantar to join the CJP’s march on Parliament on Monday.

Police lathi-charged CJP supporters. Many passengers were stranded in nearby metro stations as the station doors were closed as a precautionary measure and entry was restricted. A heavy contingent of police and paramilitary forces was deployed in central Delhi to ensure that there was no breach in security. The police claimed that 17 police personnel were injured during the CJP’s agitation.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda met the Chief Justice’s representatives on the issue and the representatives submitted a memorandum to the Health Minister demanding the resignation of the Education Minister. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting on the issue for about four hours.
