Mamta Banerjee addressed election rally in Murshidabad district

Shamsherganj. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called on voters to vote in revenge on behalf of those whose names have been removed from the voter list under the SIR process. While addressing the election rally in Murshidabad district, Mamata asked the workers to be alert on May 4, the day of counting of votes. Assembly elections in West Bengal will be held in two phases on April 23 and 29.

Apparently referring to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he alleged that he was behind the deletion of names of voters in West Bengal during the SIR process. Banerjee said that if you have courage then fight directly. Banerjee expressed apprehension that EVM machines would be deliberately damaged at some places. He directed the party workers not to allow the Election Commission officials to repair the machines and instead demand replacement of the machines.

Accused BJP of inciting violence

Addressing a public meeting organized in support of party candidate Mohammad Noor Alam in Shamsherganj and candidate Mohammad Amirul Islam in Farakka, the Trinamool Congress president accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of spreading false rumors against him that he has not done much in the interest of Muslims. Banerjee claimed that she had fought hard against the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act. There was violence in Murshidabad against the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Act and many people, including a father and son, lost their lives. The BJP had accused Trinamool of instigating violent agitation in various parts of the district.

Prime Minister should have resigned

The Chief Minister accused the Election Commission of removing names of some people from the voter list and intimidating some others. He questioned why assembly elections could not be conducted on the basis of voter lists used in the 2024 general elections. The Trinamool president said that if the names of infiltrators were in the voter list, then the Prime Minister and the Home Minister had also won on the basis of their votes, hence they should have resigned first.
