Mamta Banerjee’s big attack on Malda incident, the real culprits ran away, now NIA is harassing the innocents – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: Amidst the election campaign in West Bengal, the case of siege of judicial officers in Mothabadi, Malda has taken a new political turn. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has raised serious questions on the action of the central investigating agency NIA, alleging that the real masterminds of the violence have escaped, while the agency is now targeting innocent local people. Addressing an election rally in Manikchak, Malda, Mamata Banerjee termed it a big ‘conspiracy’ of the BJP.
Question on NIA’s action: ’50 innocent people were picked up’
The Chief Minister claimed during the rally that two communal parties together surrounded the judges and fled from there, but now the local youth are having to suffer their punishment. Mamata Banerjee said, “In the name of investigation, NIA has so far picked up about 50 innocent people and they are being harassed unnecessarily.” He expressed apprehension that by taking such action just before the elections, an attempt is being made to tarnish the image of the state and create an atmosphere of fear among the people.
Target on Amit Shah: ‘Game plan to impose President’s rule in Bengal’
Mamta Banerjee directly attacked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for this entire incident. He alleged that the Malda incident was a sponsored conspiracy to show the collapse of law and order in Bengal and to prepare the basis for imposing President’s rule in the state. The CM said that the Election Commission transferred experienced officials of the state and replaced them with outside officials who do not understand the geography of Bengal, due to which such incidents are happening.
Displeasure over deletion of name from voter list: ‘Will fight in tribunal’
During the rally, when Mamata Banerjee asked people whether their names had been removed from the voter list, a large number of people agreed by raising their hands. Expressing surprise at this, the Chief Minister appealed to the public not to fall prey to provocations and instead of going to the judicial authorities, file their petitions in the tribunal. He warned that if people take law into their hands, agencies like CBI and NIA will arrest them, and at the moment he (as Chief Minister) has no control over the police.
