Mamta gets a big blow in Bengal, cannot live with the corrupt, former TMC MLA joins BJP – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: The process of defection has once again intensified in the politics of West Bengal. The former MLA, who was among the prominent leaders of Trinamool Congress (TMC), has left Mamata Banerjee and taken up the flag of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He took membership of the party during a grand program organized at the BJP office. During this, he made serious allegations of corruption against his old party and clearly said that now there is no place left for honest workers in TMC.
Corruption allegations increase TMC’s troubles
Soon after joining BJP, the former MLA, while interacting with the media, made sharp attacks on the TMC leadership. He said, “I can no longer remain with a party which is deeply immersed in corruption. It was now against my self-respect to stand with those who looted the hard-earned money of the people of Bengal.” His statement has created a stir in the political circles of Bengal, because such migration just before the elections can harm the image of the party.
BJP’s ‘Mission Bengal’ will get new strength
Political experts believe that the coming of this veteran leader to BJP will help the party in gaining a stronger hold in the concerned area. Welcoming him, the state leadership of BJP said that the people of the state are now fed up with the ‘misgovernance’ of TMC and they are reposing faith in the development work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. BJP claims that many more big faces can become part of the party in the coming days.
Big challenge for Mamata Banerjee
Leaders leaving one after the other is becoming a matter of concern for TMC. Especially for the party surrounded by corruption issues, keeping its cadre united is now a big challenge. While TMC is calling it ‘opportunism’, BJP is taking it among the public by calling it a ‘fight for justice’. Now it remains to be seen how this defection affects the results of the upcoming elections.
