The Mumbai police received an apology from the same sender who claimed that the letter was ‘sent by mistake’ after Bollywood actor Salman Khan received a threatening message last week seeking Rs 5 crore to resolve the long-standing dispute with mobster Lawrence Bishnoi.

On October 18, the first threat message was sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police control room number. A few days later, the same number sent another message to the Mumbai Traffic Police, in which the person who had threatened them apologized and said the message had been sent in error. Mumbai police claimed that they were able to track the sender’s location from Jharkhand.

The person who sent the message claimed to be close to Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang and asserted to put the actor’s life in danger if not provided with the extortion money. The sender claimed, “Don’t take it lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and wants to end the enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, then he will have to pay Rs 5 crore. If the money is not given, Salman Khan’s condition will be worse than Baba Siddique’s.”

The Mumbai traffic police got a threatening message, and the Worli Police filed a complaint in relation to it. The event occurred in the wake of NCP leader Baba Siddique’s recent murder.

The Bishnoi gang has threatened Salman Khan on multiple occasions in recent months. Five rounds were fired by two gunmen close to the actor’s Bandra residence back in April. A 1998 event in which Salman allegedly hunted and killed two blackbucks, a species revered by the Bishnoi community, is the source of the controversy. Lawrence Bishnoi has threatened to exact revenge on the actor while the case is still pending.

Salman Khan has been given Y+ security in reaction to these growing threats, and the Galaxy Apartments, where he resides, are heavily guarded by police. In order to improve security, Mumbai Police have also installed high-resolution CCTV cameras using facial recognition technology that is powered by AI.
