Clouds lurking on the slopes of the hills. Sunshine on Rupoli peak. After the long wait, the holy Kailash-Manas Sarovar Yatra is about to start again. The Ministry of External Affairs has published the schedule of this pilgrimage of 2026. This journey will continue from June to August. The application process has already started for pilgrims interested in Shiva’s abode darshan.
Application conditions and deadlines
The last day to register for this year’s journey is May 19, 2026. But stepping on the path to Kailash is not easy. Clearance will be given only after rigorous physical examination. Applicant age should be between 18 to 70 years. Must have valid Indian passport. Body weight or BMI within 25 is mandatory to avoid height disadvantage. If you have high blood pressure, diabetes or heart disease, you will not be allowed to visit this remote route.
Two different paths
This time also two routes have been arranged for the pilgrims.
Lipulekh Pass (Uttrakhand): This journey through the forested path of Kumaon. Pilgrims will leave in total 10 batches from Delhi or Dharchula.
Nathu La Pass (Sikkim): Pilgrims will enter Tibet via Sikkim to enjoy the scenic view of the mountains. This route will also run in 10 batches.
Selection process and precautions
Application does not guarantee travel. The lucky passengers will be selected through a fully computerized lottery. During this trip of about 23 to 25 days, the oxygen level in the mountains is very low. So tourists will be subjected to strict health checks at Gunji or Sherthang camps between Delhi and the route. After passing there only the banks of Manas Sarovar can be reached.

Interested candidates are completely online https://kmy.gov.in/ Apply on the portal. Photo and scanned copy of passport should be kept with it. Follow these steps to apply.
১) Create your own account on the official website.
২) Upload the passport PDF (500 KB) and your JPG format photograph (300 KB).
৩) Choose the route and time of journey according to your choice.
৪) A maximum of two applications can be submitted in one account for traveling in the same batch.
