Mann government gave a new twist to the education sector of Punjab, under ‘Punjab Youth Entrepreneur Scheme’ "mission employment" will get strength

Chandigarh : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab is bringing Punjab Yuva Udyog Yojana to enhance the skills and employability of students. Under this scheme, students of class 11th and 12th of government schools will be given training in the field of business, entrepreneurship and marketing. The Mann government has taken an important step of moving away from the traditional structure of education and giving priority to skill education. Its objective is not only to impart bookish knowledge, but also to prepare students for employment and make them self-reliant.

Confluence of education and skills
Under this scheme, students will learn basic techniques of financial literacy, entrepreneurship and marketing. Training will be provided as per modern technology and industry needs. Students will be encouraged to become job creators rather than job seekers. This initiative will develop self-confidence, competence and creative thinking among the youth.

School of Eminence and preparation for competitive exams
This scheme of the government is not limited to skill development only. Through School of Eminence, students from class 9th to 12th will also be provided free preparation for competitive examinations like JEE, NEET and Civil Services Examination. Through this initiative, students will get experience of both studies and earning.

World Skills Excellence Complex and ITI Reforms
In April 2025, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated the World Skills Excellence Complex in Ludhiana. The campus includes modern Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Multi-Skill Development Centers (MSDCs), capable of training more than 3,000 students annually. Admissions in ITI institutes have increased from 50-60% to 97%, due to which the enthusiasm for education among the youth has increased.

Drug prevention and social awareness
Mann government started a special course to protect the youth from the ill effects of drugs through skill education. The initiative aims to reach out to more than 8 lakh students and empower them to stay away from drugs. Punjab Skill Development Mission is also contributing to the social and economic development of the state.

Making the youth of the state self-reliant
This visionary initiative of Mann Government is a historic step towards making the youth of Punjab empowered and self-reliant in the field of education, skills and employment. Schools of Eminence, ITIs and Skill Development Centers are not only educating the youth but also preparing them for employment and entrepreneurship. From this perspective, Punjab is becoming a state where education and skills are directly linked to employment and prosperity, and all this is becoming possible through the policies of the government.
