Punjab News: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said here today that the Winter Residential Coaching Camps organized under the Punjab Academic Coaching for Excellence (PACE) program provided high quality training facilities to the promising students of government schools of Punjab. Over 1700 students have benefited from this programme, which is designed to ensure every student has access to high-level coaching for competitive exams.
Minister Harjot Bains said that a total of 1728 students participated in the three centers of these camps organized with the aim of preparing the students of government schools for India’s top professional educational institutions like IIT, NIT and AIIMS. These include 601 students in Bathinda (359 girls, 242 boys), 573 students in Ludhiana (327 girls, 246 boys) and S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) comprised 554 students (367 girls, 187 boys).
He said that this initiative was taken by Chief Minister Shri. This is a testament to the strong commitment of the Punjab Government led by Bhagwant Singh Mann to provide equal opportunities for education and career guidance to all sections of students, regardless of socio-economic background. S. Harjot Singh Bains said, “The enthusiastic response to the PACE Winter Camps reflects the immense potential of the students in our government schools. This initiative empowers the youth, builds their confidence and provides fair opportunities to deserving students from any background to study in top institutions. We are creating an educational environment that prioritizes excellence and equity.”
The Education Minister said that these winter camps are one of the comprehensive initiatives being run by the department, in which a competitive, transparent and fair process was adopted for the selection of students. The selection process was based on the performance of students in mock tests, conceptual clarity, academic consistency and teachers’ recommendations. He further said that as part of an inclusive approach, 20 per cent seats in each center were reserved for general government schools and drop-year candidates, so that apart from schools of eminence and residential schools, other meritorious students could also benefit from this initiative.

Education Minister Bains said that these camps provided comprehensive learning experience to the students, where experts from top coaching institutes like Physicswala, Vidya Mandir and Avanti Fellows imparted training. The course focused on conceptual clarity and advanced problem-solving in line with JEE and NEET patterns. Additionally, modules based on daily doubt-clearing sessions, one-to-one mentoring, stress management, career guidance and recreational activities ensured the overall well-being of the students. Better and safer residential facilities provided a conducive environment for study.
He expressed confidence that these winter residential coaching camps will significantly improve the results of competitive examinations by providing important training to the Class 11 students at the preparatory level and will prove helpful to the Class 12 students in preparing for the final examinations. The Cabinet Minister said that last year, 265 government school students cleared JEE Mains, 45 cleared JEE Advanced and 847 cleared NEET, which clearly shows that government schools in the state are now emerging as launchpads for top professional career courses in the country.

Strong government arrangements ensure quality and equity in coaching
The Government of Punjab, through the Department of School Education, made extensive administrative and academic arrangements to ensure the success of the Winter Residential Coaching Camps under the “PACE” programme. These camps were organized in three residential centers established in Ludhiana, Bathinda and Mohali, ensuring standardized academic planning, complete monitoring and uniform syllabus delivery across all the centres.
To maintain fairness, 20 per cent seats were reserved in each center for other government schools and drop-year candidates, so that students from schools other than Schools of Eminence and Meritorious Residential Schools could also benefit from this initiative.

The Punjab Government had ensured complete arrangements in the residential camps so that the students could be provided a better environment for studies. Complete arrangements were made for the students like safe accommodation, nutritious food, 24-hour monitoring, medical and counseling support, so that they could study with full concentration. Along with academic training, holistic modules focused on daily doubt-solving sessions, structured mentorship, stress management and career guidance were provided through partnerships with renowned coaching institutes. These arrangements reflect the excellence, equity and student welfare focused efforts of the Punjab Government towards confidently preparing students for IITs, NITs, AIIMS and other premier institutes.
