This investment under AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0) shows that meeting basic needs is the biggest priority of the government.

The government is committed to protecting the rights

Perhaps the lack or quality of water in many parts of the city has forced people to struggle for years. When dirty water comes from the tap or the tap remains dry, it is not only an inconvenience, it is also an injury to the dignity of the citizen. The purpose of these ₹26 crore projects is not just to lay pipes, but to assure every Bathinda resident that getting clean water is their basic right and the Mann government is committed to protecting that right.

The families of Bathinda city, who were facing water shortage for years, got a big relief when Mayor Padamjit Singh Mehta, under the leadership of Mann government, laid the foundation stone of a water supply system project worth about Rs 26 crore in Amarpura Basti. AMRUT 2.0 scheme ensures that the infrastructure built is not only new but also sustainable and modern. In these projects, new technology is being used for efficient distribution of water and water conservation. This means that this facility will serve to quench the thirst of Bathinda not just for a few years, but for many generations to come. This value reflects the foresight of the government.

What was the atmosphere till now?

Mayor Mehta said that till now residents of many areas of the city, especially Model Town Phase 4-5 and Amarpura Basti, had to borrow water, but now this problem will be solved forever. He told that under this Rs 26 crore project, two water tanks will be built, one in Amarpura Basti and the other in Model Town Phase 4-5. The capacity of each of these tanks will be 2 lakh gallons. The Mayor said that by laying 63,000 meter pipeline, about 8,600 houses will get new connections, which will directly provide relief to about 35,000 people.

Mayor Padamjit Singh Mehta thanked Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh and said that under the leadership of the Chief Minister and Local Government Minister, important efforts are being made to strengthen the infrastructure in Bathinda and entire Punjab. He said that the Mann government is committed to provide relief to every household and give priority to solving the problems of the public. He said that with this foundation stone laying ceremony, a new chapter has started in the direction of providing clean and uninterrupted drinking water to those areas of Bathinda city which were facing water shortage for a long time.

Bathinda will become a healthy city

This investment of ₹26 crore will directly improve the health index of Bathinda. Supply of clean water will reduce dysentery, typhoid and other serious diseases caused by contaminated water. When a child drinks clean water, his physical and mental development improves. This investment saves the cost of current disease and helps in making the future generation of Punjab healthy.

When governments look into the eyes of the public and take such a big step to address their biggest problems, the bridge of trust between the public and the government becomes stronger. This ₹26 crore project is not just an administrative decision, it is a living example of the government’s spirit of service towards the public. It makes every citizen feel that their voice has been heard and that concrete efforts are being made to improve their lives.

This achievement is a decisive step towards bringing Bathinda into the category of ‘water safe’ cities. This project is just a beginning. This shows how eager the Mann government is to include Punjab among the most developed and resource-rich states of the country. This is a project that Bathinda can be proud of and whose story will be an inspiration to the entire Punjab.

Trust and invest in a better tomorrow

Through this project, the Mann government has proved how seriously it takes the basic needs of the people of Punjab. This money is not just being spent on cement and pipes, but it is an investment in people’s trust and a better tomorrow.

When governments do such things, public confidence is strengthened. This Rs 26 crore project is a strong foundation on which Bathinda’s water-secure future will rest. The smile on the faces of the residents of Bathinda, the health of children and the relief of women. This is the real cost of this Rs 26 crore project.
