Manoj Jarange Patil’s warning – ‘If the government breaks its promise, Maratha movement will start again’

Manoj Jarange Patil, an activist of Maratha community and the main architect of the reservation movement, has once again announced the march. The Maratha community is fully prepared to march again towards Mumbai demanding reservation. Meanwhile, Manoj Jarange has given a big warning to the Devendra Fadnavis government.

Manoj Jarange says, “If the government breaks its promise, it may have to face serious consequences. If Devendra Fadnavis did not want to give reservation to the Maratha community, he would not have issued the government order in Hyderabad Gazette.” He also stressed that the Maratha community is fully aware and organized for its rights and reservation.

The government has already talked about implementing the old ‘Hyderabad Gazette’ to provide reservation to the Maratha community. This gazette is a notification of the princely state of Nizam Hyderabad, in which the Kunbi i.e. farmer caste was described as an economically and socially backward class. Manoj Jarange believes that Maratha and Kunbi are equal. Therefore, people of Maratha community should be given Kunbi caste certificate and they should get reservation.

Devendra Fadnavis government has talked about recognizing Hyderabad Gazette as proof of Kunbi-Maratha identity. Actually, before 1947, Marathwada used to be a part of the princely state of Hyderabad. Today it is in Maharashtra and includes 8 districts of the state. All records related to population, castes and communities, occupations, agriculture etc. of Marathwada were included in the Hyderabad Gazette.
