Many trains canceled from April 2, routes changed; Please check status before travelling.

Indian Railway: An important update has come out for railway passengers in North India. Indian Railways has decided to make temporary changes in the operation of many trains due to the repair of the railway bridge over the Ganga River near Kanpur. According to the Railways, the necessary maintenance and safety related work on the bridge will start from April 2, 2026 and this work may continue for more than 40 days.

According to railway officials, work related to the strength of the track and structure will be done on the bridge. This maintenance is considered necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and safe movement of trains. The number of trains passing through the bridge will be limited during the work. For this reason, many passenger and MEMU trains have been temporarily cancelled, while the routes of some long distance trains have been changed.

Railways has appealed to the passengers to check the latest status of their train before leaving for the journey. Because there may be changes in operation from time to time during maintenance work. Passengers can also get information about train status through the official website of Railways or mobile app.
These trains were canceled
Due to maintenance work, operation of many local and passenger trains will remain temporarily closed. The list of canceled trains is as follows –

Train No. 64701/02 — Jhansi-Lucknow-Jhansi MEMU
Train No. 54153/44 — Kanpur-Rae Bareli-Kanpur Passenger
Train No. 54101/02 — Prayagraj-Kanpur-Prayagraj Passenger
Train No. 54325/26 — Sitapur-Kanpur-Sitapur Passenger
Train No. 64212 — Kanpur-Lucknow MEMU
Train No. 64203 — Kanpur-Lucknow MEMU
Train No. 64214 — Kanpur-Lucknow MEMU
Due to cancellation of these trains, especially daily commuters and local passengers may have to face temporary inconvenience.

Railways has also changed the routes of some important express and superfast trains so that the traffic can be operated smoothly. The trains whose routes have been changed include —

Train No. 13237 — Kota-Patna Express
Train No. 12143 — LTT-Pratapgarh Express
Train No. 12183 — Bhopal-Pratapgarh Superfast Express

Railways says that after the completion of maintenance, operation of all trains will be normalized. Till then, passengers have been advised to keep the possible changes in mind while planning their journey and check the train information in advance, so that they do not face any problem at the last moment.
