Marble mosque demolition dispute reached Allahabad High Court
Bureau Prayagraj. The ongoing dispute regarding the Marble Mosque located in the City Side Circulating Area of Prayagraj Junction has now reached the judicial realm. The Mosque Committee has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court challenging the demolition notice issued by the Railways and has demanded an immediate stay on the notice.
In the petition, the committee has said that the property in question is registered in the records of the Waqf Board, hence issuing demolition notice without completing the legal process is illegal. The committee has urged the court to stop any kind of action till the hearing of the case, so that the religious place is not harmed.
At the same time, the Railway Administration has said in its favor that the said structure is situated on the Railway land and it is necessary to remove it for the redevelopment of the station area and to streamline the traffic system. Railways says that all the procedures have been completed as per rules and the concerned party has already been given notice till April 27 to vacate the premises.
After the matter gained prominence, the discussion has intensified at the local level also. Amidst the claims of both the parties, now all eyes are on the court proceedings. Legal experts believe that Waqf records and land ownership documents can play a decisive role in this case. Now it will be important to see what stance the court takes in this sensitive matter and whether the demolition is banned for now or not.
