Amazon Prime Video’s TV and movie releases this week (June 15 to June 21) include an animated adventure comedy featuring the voice of Mark Hamill.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants centers on SpongeBob deciding to prove his bravery to Mr. Krabs. He follows the mysterious ghost, the Flying Dutchman, on an extraordinary adventure through the depths of the ocean. The film opened to positive reviews and was a hit at the box office. It grossed $169 million worldwide.
The cast features Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants and Gary the Snail, and Hamill as The Flying Dutchman. Moreover, it has a 78% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, to go with a 67% audience score. The film also holds an IMDb score of 5.7.
Also coming to Amazon Prime Video is a 2016 biographical sports drama movie about African-American athlete Jesse Owens. Directed by Stephen Hopkins, the film’s cast features Stephan James as Owens. Additionally, the supporting cast includes Jason Sudeikis, Jeremy Irons, William Hurt, and Carice van Houten.
It follows Owens’ journey to become one of the greatest and most influential track and field athletes in history as he is thrust onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics. The movie grossed $25 million worldwide. On Rotten Tomatoesit holds a 64% critics’ score and a 77% audience score. Meanwhile, on IMDbit has a score of 7.1.
Furthermore, several sports fixtures are slated to be live-streamed on Prime Video this week across MLB, WNBA, and NASCAR.
