Marnus Labuschagne baffled as ball turns pink from jersey dye in PSL 2026 opener, Fans mock Hyderabad Kingsmen
The Pakistan Super League 2026 started on March 26, with defending champions Lahore Qalandars defeating Hyderabad Kingsmen by 69 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. During the innings of Lahore, the ball changed its colour from white to pink, as the colour of Hyderabad’s jersey came off.
The players of the Hyderabad Kingsmen were seen rubbing the ball onto their jerseys to make it shine. However, the maroon from the kit gave the ball a pinkish shade.
The fans trolled Hyderabad Kingsmen on X (formerly Twitter). Hyderabad captain Marnus Labuschagne reacted to the colour change after the match, saying he hadn’t seen anything like that before.
The Australian player is hoping the issue will be sorted out before their next game in the PSL.
“I spoke to the umpires after the second over as the ball had turned red. I think it was because of the clothes. I haven’t seen anything like that in the past,” Labuschagne told reporters at the post-match press conference.
“I have seen a ball changing colour a bit after hitting the bat, or the pads, but never seen the colour of the clothes come onto it. I am sure they will sort it out before the next game,” he added.

During the very first match of PSL 11, the ball literally turned pink every time Hyderabad Kingsmen players rubbed it on their kit.
Did they get knockoff kits instead of authentic ones?

Lahore registered a win by 69 runs. Batting first, Qalandars posted 199/4 in the allotted 20 overs, with opening batter Fakhar Zaman amassing 53 runs. Haseebullah Khan managed an unbeaten 40-run knock off 28 balls.
Ubaid Shah, Sikandar Raza and Haris Rauf then took two wickets each as Hyderabad were dismissed for 130 in 20 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mustafizur Rahman dismissed one batter each.
The PSL 2026 matches are being contested behind closed doors due to the oil crisis triggered by the conflict in West Asia. The games have been restricted to Lahore and Karachi, with the Pakistan Cricket Board urging the fans to watch contests from home.
