Marriage is a waste! Changed thinking of youth around the world, know the reason
Gen Z on Marriage: ‘Marriage is a compromise in which two people keep trying to adapt to each other throughout their lives.’ This is the thinking of youth all over the world regarding marriage. Today’s youth, who want to reach heights in their career, are full of self-confidence and do not want to compromise at any point in life. This is the reason why the trend of live-in relationship is increasing rapidly in countries like Japan, Korea, America and also in India. Let us know what is the reason for this increasing trend among the youth.
Changed thinking of youth around the world
There was a time when love was everything for the youth. But in today’s time they want to stand on their own feet. They want to be free and reach their destination. According to a report by Pew Research Center, the number of people not living with a partner in America is increasing rapidly. According to this analysis, in the year 2019, about four out of ten adults between the age of 25 to 54 years, i.e. about 38%, were unmarried. In the year 2019 this figure was around 29%. Most of the youth believe that they like to live freely.
Marriage figures are decreasing rapidly
According to data from the Cabinet Office of Japan, 25.4% of women and about 26.5% of men under the age of thirty do not want to marry. At the same time, about 19% of the young men and 14% of the girls aged 20 want to always live alone. According to Japanese government data, about 25% of people aged 20 to 49 in the country are unmarried. According to a Cabinet Office study, Japanese people no longer consider marriage a guarantee of a stable life and happiness.
focus on career
The report shows that only 514,000 marriages were registered in Japan in 2021, the lowest figure since World War II in 1945. Most of the women and girls involved in this study said that they want to focus on their career and live openly without being bound by marriage. She finds it better to be independent than to be a traditional housewife. At the same time, men and youth admitted that they also like to live in freedom. They want to stay away from worries like household maintenance and job insecurity.
Inflation disillusioned
According to a study, more than 63% of the youth in South Korea want to stay away from marriage. In a survey conducted in the year 2023, only 36.4% of the youth said that they think positively about marriage. This figure was around 56.5% in the year 2012. However, 40% of the youth admitted that they want to become parents even without a partner. The youth here admit that living a good life is now very expensive and they do not want to increase their financial worries by getting married.
Know what Indian youth say
Many surveys and studies show that trends like not marrying and living in live-in relationships are increasing in India too. According to the Youth in India report released in the year 2022, 23% of the youth of India are not interested in marriage. Another survey claimed that one in four young adults in India does not want to get married. Whereas 19% of Millennials neither want to get married nor have children. Whereas 8% of the youth said that they do not want to get married, but want a child. Indian youth are staying away from marriage for many reasons. The biggest reason for this is the desire to live freely, financial independence, focus on career, pressure of responsibilities etc.
