Maruti Suzuki EV plan
Maruti Suzuki’s electric journey in India is scheduled to launch next month from e Vitara. The SUV will be the company’s first full electric car, and with it the EV chapter of Maruti will officially open. Just after that the company is also working fast on another electric car, which will be an MPV.
This project has been given a YMC codename inside Maruti Suzuki India Limited. According to reports, this new electric MPV may debut in India by the end of 2026. That is, the company is not going to stop by launching just one EV, but wants to strengthen the grip across the segment.
design
The design has not yet been revealed, but it is expected that this electric MPV will come with a completely modern look. Premium cabins, large touchscreen systems, connected car technology and advanced safety features can be seen on the inside.
platform
Maruti’s upcoming electric MPV will be built on the same modern platform on which the e Vitara is built. The platform is based on the 27PL skateboard architecture, designed specifically for electric trains.
The platform has been developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota together. Its biggest feature is that different body styles can be drawn on it, such as SUV, MPV and future sedan. This helps the company to launch new vehicles quickly and at a lower cost.

Battery and range
Let me tell you that the full details of the powertrain of this electric MPV have not been revealed yet, but it is expected that the same battery options will be given in e Vitara. This may include battery packs of 49 kWh and 61 kWh.
The E Vitara’s ARAI claimed range with its large 61 kWh battery is reported to be 543 kilometers. If this setup is also found in MPV, it will be nothing short of a relief for long distance travelers. Family trip or travel outside the city, concern about the range will be reduced to a great extent.

Launch timeline
Maruti Suzuki’s YMC Electric MPV may come up for sale around September 2026 if media reports are to be believed if it talks. At the moment there is no news of its testing starting, which seems to be the initial development stage.
After launch, it will directly compete with electric MPVs like Kia Carens Clavis EV. This segment is a new one for Maruti, but the company’s experience in the MPV market has been quite old and strong.
