Maruti Suzuki today will be launching the new Brezza facelift, and it has been working on the facelift of its other cars as well. Today, a few spy shots of the soon-to-be-launched Fronx facelift have also surfaced on the internet. In these images, we can note that the Fronx facelift will be getting a new front grille, new front bumper, new rear-end styling, and most importantly, ADAS.
The spy images of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift have been shared on Instagram by Car India News on their page. In the first image, we can note that the main change will be seen on the front grille of this crossover SUV. This time around, the grille pattern has been changed, and it will boast chunkier U-shaped elements.
On the Boosterjet turbo-petrol variant seen in the leaked images, we will be seeing red detailing on a few of these grille elements on one side. Another notable highlight of the new Fronx will be the replacement of the current silver garnish, which runs across the grille. It will be replaced by a gunmetal grey-coloured connecting ridge element, which will give the Fronx a more sporty yet premium look.
Apart from these, a newly designed front bumper will be another big change, with a new and more aggressive-looking silver skid plate. As for the lower air dam, it looks almost the same as the current model. Coming to the main highlight of the upcoming Fronx, we can note that just underneath the Suzuki emblem is the radar sensor. This will help the vehicle in offering ADAS Level 2. Its features could include adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, emergency braking, and many others.
Moving to the next spy image, we can note that the new Fronx facelift will boast the same set of rear LED taillights as the current model. This means the only major change at the rear will be a newly designed rear bumper. Another major detail which can be noted is the presence of the Turbo Boosterjet and Smart Hybrid badges.
Currently, the Fronx is offered with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which makes 100 PS and 146 Nm of torque. It also gets the Smart Hybrid setup, which includes an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and a small lithium-ion battery pack. Its main use is to help with idle start-stop, torque assist, and brake energy regeneration. It does not offer the vehicle the convenience of driving on electric power, as the battery pack is too small.
Lastly, the last image shows the same 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine inside the engine bay of the Fronx. As mentioned, the same engine is being offered in the current Fronx. Once again, we can note the new gunmetal grey-coloured element on the grille, along with the red elements on the grille, which add to the sporty design of the Fronx.
A lot of people will be disappointed by these spy images. This is because a lot of people anticipated that the Fronx will get the series hybrid powertrain. For those who may not be aware of what a series hybrid is, it was reported that Maruti Suzuki will be offering the new facelifted Fronx with this powertrain, where the petrol engine acts only as a generator.
Its main task is to recharge the larger battery (compared to conventional strong hybrid cars) and extend the range of the vehicle. This does not power the wheels. They get power from the electric motor. This ensures that the vehicle offers an EV-like driving experience without having any range anxiety. It has been reported that the company could still launch the series hybrid Fronx, which will offer a mileage of around 35 kmpl. However, it will now most likely launch next year.
