in the Indian auto market Maruti Suzuki has offered powerful cars in many segments. The company is always updating the car with the changing times. The company has offered many great cars. One such car is the Maruti Ertiga, which has consistently been the best-selling MPV in the country.

Demand for not only affordable MPVs but also premium and luxury MPVs has grown rapidly in India. This segment has grown by around 70 percent in the last few years. Cars like Kia Carnival, MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire have become very popular due to their comfortable and luxurious cabins. Maruti is gearing up to launch a new car in this segment.

Maruti’s new premium compact SUV

Keeping these changing trends in mind, Maruti Suzuki is working on a new premium compact MPV. The model will be inspired by the Suzuki Solio sold in Japan and Hong Kong. It is codenamed YVF within the company and is expected to hit the market around 2028–29. This new MPV will expand Maruti’s MPV portfolio and target more premium customers.

Size and seating arrangement

Maruti is yet to announce the car’s dimensions, but it can be guessed from the Japan-spec Suzuki Solio. The MPV is 3,810mm long, 1,645mm wide and 1,745mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,480mm. The size may be slightly smaller than existing sub-4-metre MPVs such as the Renault Triber and Nissan Gravite.

Powered sliding doors for the first time in this segment

One of the biggest highlights of the YVF is its powered rear sliding doors. This feature has previously been seen only in expensive MPVs like the Vellfire and MG M9. This will be a first for Maruti in the compact MPV segment.

Production to be done in India

YVF will be manufactured in India. Also export will be an important component of this project. Maruti is expected to produce around 100,000 units in the first full year, of which around 12,000 will be the hybrid version. About 30,000 vehicles will be shipped to foreign markets.
