Maruti Teases e Vitara Right Before Bharat Mobility Expo Debut

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch their first electric car, the e Vitara next year but before that they will debut the vehicle in the Indian market at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025. They have teased the vehicle and even though we know what the vehicle looks like, this is the first time that it is going to be shown to the public in India.

Maruti Suzuki has been a little late to the market when it comes to electric vehicles but they aim to provide the market with a competitive and reliable product which competes with most of the upcoming rivals like the Mahindra BE 6 and the Hyundai Creta EV which is also rumored to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo.

The e Vitara was conceived as the final production form of the eVX concept that Maruti Suzuki showed to the public. There will be a Toyota version of the same but that will be meant for the international markets. You can read more about the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV here. The e Vitara along with the Urban Cruiser EV is based on an all new platform specially developed for EVs.

Specs wise, the base versions of the vehicles will come equipped with a 49 kWh battery pack or a 61 kWh battery pack. Power will go to either the front wheels via a single electric motor which will produce 144 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. For the larger battery the power will be rated at 174 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. Maruti Suzuki will also offer an AWD variant which will add another electric motor on the rear axle and produce 184 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. Whether the AWD version will be available in India or not is yet to be seen.

Pricing, official launch dates and other technical details are expected to come out with the debut of the vehicle at the Bharat Mobility Expo. It will be sold through Maruti’s premium Nexa dealerships in India and also exported to international markets since both the Maruti e Vitara and Urban Cruiser EV will be produced in Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant.
